What did you do in 2011 that you’d never done before?
everything legally.
Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
i make halfhearted ones, but the real resolutions occur naturally in time.

no.
Did anyone close to you die?
close by proximity, not by relationship. thank god.
What countries did you visit?
i was in japan until february twelve. i went to thailand in july. i went back to japan this month.
What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
friends that i can rely on. now, so late in the year, i’m starting to realise who’s really there and who hasn’t been there all along.
What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
new years day. every single day i spent in japan. other fantastic, wonderful days and nights that i’ll spare you the details.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
completing my first year of university, whew.
What was your biggest failure?
my social life, really. twenty eleven: the year i didn’t do anything.
jlpt was also quite a failure, but that’s on an academic level.

no.

i don’t count my happiness by material possessions

mine, i believe.

people in general.

savings account, food, alcohol, coffee, train tickets

japan. thailand. christmas.

happier or sadder? approximately the same. perhaps slightly happier, but that’s because i’m home and never have to go to high school ever again.
thinner or fatter? the same. my weight fluctuates, but it always ends up the same.
richer or poorer? richer, much richer.
What do you wish you’d done more of?
gone out, partied, hung out with friends, carefree and spontaneous.

nothing.
How will you be spending Christmas?
with my family, by the pool.

i don’t hate people. i’ve outgrown that.

eighteen. went into the city after a full day of classes, and saw david o’doherty with my family.
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
if i’d had friends when i needed them. i spent so much of this year feeling lonely and lost.

layers.

downtime with the family.
